"We have a confidence and a focus which will make us a very dangerous opponent for everyone who has to face us," said the 23-year-old. "We have maybe not played as well as we are all capable of all the time this season but look at how close we are to the teams at the top of the table. That is highly encouraging for us.

LIVERPOOL V FC PORTO

Wednesday 28 November 2007 19:45

The Reds welcome FC Porto to Anfield knowing that a win is imperative if they are to keep their hopes of qualification for the Champions League knockout stage alive. Last time out Rafael Benitez's men avoided elimination from the competition by completely outclassing Besiktas in a rampant 8-0 success and they will be hoping for a similar performance against the champions of Portugal.

The two sides met in the Estado do Dragao on Matchday One when 10-man Liverpool held on for a 1-1 draw after Dirk Kuyt's header cancelled out an early Lucho Gonzalez penalty.Jesualdo Ferreira's men are currently top of the Group A standings with eight points from four games played and with the likes of Ricardo Quaresma, Lisandro Lopez and Gonzalez they have a side more than capable of causing the Reds problems at Anfield. A win for Rafa Benitez's men would set up a mouthwatering all-or-nothing trip to Marseille in the final game of the Group, a clash that will ultimately decide whether we are still involved in Europe's premier competition at the turn of the year.
